Regency invited prominent specialists such as Dr. Dipak Limbachiya, Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynae Oncologist with special interest in minimal access surgery in EVA Women Hospital and Gynaecology Endoscopy Centre in India and Dr. S. Selva, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and a subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine at Mahkota Medical Centre, Melaka. He is also the immediate past President of the Asia Pacific Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy (APAGE).

  • During the seminar, obstetricians and gynaecologists were exposed to the variety of minimally invasive treatment techniques and options available, the principals of it, as well as the common challenges and situations associated with the advanced surgical techniques.
  • Regency Specialist Hospital (Regency) collaborated with Hospital Sultan Ismail (HSI) to conduct a seminar on minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery. This event was also supported by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) with Dato Dr Hj Ghazali bin Ismail, HOD of O&G department of HSI as the guest of honour.
  • Gan Boon San, Chief Executive Officer of Regency, said the hospital’s mission is to provide better outcomes for patients and it is important to promote knowledge and share such good practices. Regency will continue to collaborate with government hospitals to provide the best medical practices to its patients in Johor.
  • Another resident specialist, Dr. Sharifah Halimah Jaafar who was the Chair of this event, said that the workshop will create more awareness among the public on the advantages of this type of surgery. “We hope to spark the interest of many young doctors in the southern region to develop skills in this advanced surgical technique,” said Dr Sharifah, who is also the Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Regency.
  • Dr. Badrul Zaman bin Muda @ Abdullah, Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynae Oncologist, HSI, who co-chaired the event, said the hospital was proud to be working hand in hand with Regency for the inaugural workshop and raise awareness and expose doctors in the southern region to the advances and possibilities of laparoscopic surgery.
  • This Advanced Laparoscopic Gynaecologic Surgery Seminar followed an earlier live Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Seminar for doctors, also supported by MMA, Johor in March this year. Regency plans to continue sharing its expertise on minimally invaive surgery by having more of such seminars and training doctors in the southern region to benefit patients in the region.
